Description

This route belongs to the Natural Park of Fuentes Carrionas and Fuente Cobre, in the Palencia Mountains, and stands out for having the largest natural waterfall in the province of Palencia, which gives its name to this trail: Mazobre Waterfall. Not only is the waterfall worth visiting, but the entire area is exceptionally beautiful. It is a very pleasant walk to enjoy with friends or children, following the Mazobre stream on the right and the northern cliffs of Espigüete on the left. We did the route in September, and it is worth noting that it is not the best time to visit as the landscape is very dry after the summer, and the waterfall has less water flow. It is likely that in spring, with the snowmelt, the scenery is more spectacular.

To start the route, we will reach the Pino Llano parking lot, between Cardaño de Abajo and Cardaño de Arriba, where we can park the car. Crossing the road, we will see the sign that marks the beginning of the trail. The route is marked with white and yellow marks. In the middle of the trail, we find a fork that can lead us to the refuge. We continue a little further until we reach the waterfall. The way back follows the same path.
